EWS Certificate Apply: The government of India sought approval from the President of India, on a ten percent reservation for General Category under the Economically Weaker Section. The bill was passed in January 2019, and it got first implemented in the State of Gujarat.

The approved candidates of the EWS Certificate have a ten percent job reservation quota in UPSC Services, and State Level. Applicants who wish to apply for an economically weaker section reservation quota can make a request at concerned government depts.

EWS Certificate Apply Online 2022 State-wise:

EWS Category at State Level/Central Level:

The EWS category comprises of economically weaker section of the general category. It excludes all other categories such as SC/ST/OBC/MBC. One must bear in mind that the income certificate and EWS certificate are two distinctive ones.

State Government issues Income Certificate while the Central Government provides the Economically Weaker Section certificate. Certain States may have changed the eligibility criteria for EWS, then the State Certificate shall and Central Certificate will differ.

In such conditions, applicants who apply for State-related reservations then EWS Certificate (State) should be furnished. When an applicant applies for Centre related reservations then EWS Certificate (Central) should be applied for.   

Ways to Obtain Offline/Online Process:

An applicant can visit a local government authority (tehsil) and get the documents verified. A government officer will issue an economically weaker certificate EWS Certificate 2021. In case of offline submission, an applicant must collect the EWS form.

Fill the EWS form and attach the relevant document such as income certificate and notary with it. At the tahsil office, the designated officer will verify the submitted application/documents and issue the EWS certificate.

An applicant can submit the EWS application online as well. The applicant must visit the online web portal and click the relevant link to follow the procedure as per the prescribed instructions.

EWS Certificate for Seeking Reservation Benefit in College Admission

Students who are waiting for college admission can benefit from an EWS certificate. Students can benefit from 40 percent of unreserved seats and 10 percent of seats reserved for the EWS category. The same holds true for JEE 2021 entrance, and the EWS certificate is valid for one session only.

EWS can be Obtained Offline: Apply in EWS Form

In India, with the provision of EWS (State) and EWS (Central) facilities, applications for EWS are being enrolled in different ways. In some states, the application is taken online, while in others, the application for EWS Certificate is taken offline. For instance, in Andhra Pradesh, the above mention process of seeking an EWS Certificate is online.

Procedure to Seek EWS Certificate Offline state-wise:

1st Step: Applicants should visit their state government official web Portal.

2nd Step: Once, the web page gets loaded in, applicants should go through the Public Services section on the Home page. And, download the EWS certificate PDF form.

3rd Step: An applicant will have to fill in the details.

4th Step: On the photograph column, paste it and make a bunch of it along with required documents

5th Step: Submit the EWS form to the designated officer at the Tahsil/Block officer

6th Step: For the updates on the EWS Certificate, an applicant can visit at the nearest service center or approach Jan Sewa Kendra for updates of EWS Certificate.

However, be it offline or online, the EWS form will contain information that it requires for filling. The details shall be Name of the State Govt., Name of the applicant, name of the Father/Husband, Address, Financial year, caste, and attested passport-size photograph.

Procedure for the Filling of EWS Online Application:

1st Step: An applicant will have to make a visit to the official website, and then get connected to the link of the issuing authority. Follow the instructions provided in the web portal.

2nd Step: In the case of the online application entry, the following documents an applicant is expected to upload. The documents should be Aadhar Card, Identity proof, residence proof, caste certificate, and if any.  

EWS Certificate for General Category: Condition Apply:

The Government of India allows citizens who belong to General Category, GC, to benefit under the Economically Weaker Section Certificate. But the Government provides the cover only when GC Citizens satisfy certain predefined conditions.

  • EWS Certificate is for Indian Citizens who belong to General Category. They do form an exclusive section of society and differ from SC, ST, and OBC reservations.
  • The Gross Income of the General Category must be less than 8 lakh per annum.
  • The Gross income includes family earnings from all sources such as agriculture, salary, professional business, etc.
  • A Citizen can have agricultural land of less than 5 Acres.
  • The Citizen can have a residential flat area of less than 1000 sq. ft.
  • In the case of Municipalities, the residential plot area should be less than 100 sq. yards.

  • Applicants ID Proof like Aadhar Card or Voter ID Card
  • Photo of the candidate
  • Annual Income Certificate
  • Pan Card
  • Caste Certificate If any
  • BPL Card If any
  • Active Bank Statement
  • Self Declaration or Affidavit
