Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Launches Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) scheme exclusively designed to benefit the old age people. RVY scheme has launched for the first time in the year 2017 and falls under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE). The expenditure of implementation for the Vayoshri Yojana is solely by the ‘Senior Citizens Welfare Fund.’
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) Complete details:
The scheme is providing life aids to elderly people with artificial devices. It applies to early people who are senior citizens and above the age group of 60 years. The community who are getting artificial devices belongs to the BPL category. To understand how the scheme has penetrated the masses, one must look into the statistical figures.
In India, Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) has plans to implement in 325 districts, and out of them, 135 districts are covered. In these identified districts, assessment camps were set up to select the beneficiary. On 25.01.2019, seventy-seven distribution camps were organized. With the availability of relevant information on beneficiaries, seventy thousand and above senior citizens of the BPL category have benefited from artificial devices.
Scheme Implementation for Senior Citizens:
For identification of the beneficiaries, the State Govt/ UT administration/ District Level Committee is committed to utilize the database of the old-age pension. The Deputy Commissioner/ District Collector Committee chairs the committee at the UT Administration and District Level Committee.
In every district, 30 percent of the beneficiaries will be women. Through the Vayoshri Yojana, all eligible senior citizen beneficiaries will be provided with devices free of cost. For senior citizens who are aged 80 years and above, the devices are issued at their doorsteps.
Depending on the manifestation of disability/infirmity, a device for free of cost is provided to the senior citizen. In case of a senior citizen who is suffering from multiple disabilities/infirmities, such will be provided with assistive devices with respect to each disability/impairment.
The artificial devices are going to offer by ALIMCO. The company shall provide one year of free maintenance of aids and assisted living devices.
Senior citizens who are suffering from age-related disability/infirmity shall be provided with supportive devices /assisted living devices. On making use of these devices, old age persons will draw closer to normalcy in their bodily functions. The devices that substitute the need for eye, ear, teeth, and locomotor disability, are with low vision, hearing impairment, artificial teeth, wheelchairs, etc.
Eligibility Criteria:
- To apply for this scheme, applicants must be Citizens of India and have the Aadhar Card issued by the Indian Govt.
- A senior citizen should be above 60 years and hold a Below Poverty Line, BPL, card. The Scheme applies across the nation.
How to apply for Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana Online 2021:
1st Step: Applicants who wish to apply for the RVY scheme Online should go through the Official website i.e. https://www.alimco.in/index.aspx
2nd Step: Once the ALIMCO web page is loaded, on the home page, applicants should click on the button of Rashtriya Vayoshri Registration.
3rd step: Next, a new application form of the RVY scheme will be displayed on the new page.
4th Step: In the Application form, the applicant should enter the details of Name, Residential Address, District, State, Tehsil, etc., and upload the documents.
5th Step: After entering the required details in the RVY registration form, beneficiaries should verify the code by entering the captcha code and click the Submit button.

Important Documents Required to Apply Online:
The following are the documents to be uploaded as they stand as proof. They are proof of identification, Aadhar Card, driving license, and white ration card. Documents of senior citizens who are taking an old-age pension.
A certified document that states loss of vision, hearing impairment, loss of teeth. certification of a locomotor disability that requires wheelchair use. Senior Citizens with any of the above-stated disability or infirmities must produce the respective doctor certification.
